Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai to the United States and arrested in connection with a Miami shooting case, according to the Miami Herald.
“Miami Police confirm that U.S. Marshals have apprehended Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the US. No date has been set for his transfer to Miami-Dade County,” said police spokesperson Mike Vega, as reported by NBC News.
Brown had been sought for several months in relation to a shooting on May 16 outside an amateur boxing match in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. Video from the scene appeared to show him arguing just before gunfire erupted.
He was briefly detained at that time but released without charges. A warrant was later issued in June, offering him the option to surrender under a $10,000 bond and house arrest, which he declined.
According to reports, Brown’s trial is expected to begin soon, and he could face a murder charge if convicted.
Just a week prior to his arrest, the 37-year-old appeared in a sponsored video promoting the online betting platform BC Game. In the video, he was seen driving a black Lamborghini and displaying a carefree demeanor.
The former NFL receiver Antonio Brown faces serious charges after extradition from Dubai, marking a dramatic turn in his tumultuous post-football life.
