Former NFL star Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to the United States to face charges related to an attempted murder. The incident occurred in May outside a Miami boxing event.
Miami police confirmed on Thursday that Brown, 37, is currently held in Essex County, New Jersey, awaiting extradition to Miami-Dade County. The timeline for his apprehension and transfer to Miami-Dade has not been disclosed.
“This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police detectives, working closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami,” said Miami police in a statement.
Brown faces an attempted murder charge linked to a dispute on May 16 during a boxing event hosted by influencer Adin Ross. Social media posts show Brown had been in Dubai for several months before his extradition.
After a warrant for his arrest was issued in June, Brown obtained legal representation which secured a $10,000 bond and house arrest conditions. However, he never surrendered to authorities, leading to the extradition.
