Sarah Snook stars in the Peacock thriller All Her Fault, a kidnapping mystery that explores the fears of parenthood in the wealthy elite. This marks Snook’s first leading TV role since her acclaimed performance in Succession.
Marissa Irvine, played by Snook, is a self-made wealth manager living in Chicago. While she shares some superficial traits with Siobhan Roy, Snook’s character from Succession—both wealthy and stylish in muted tones—the similarities are minimal.
Unlike Shiv Roy, Marissa is deeply defined by her role as a mother. The story begins when Marissa goes to pick up her 5-year-old son Milo from a playdate and discovers he is missing, triggering a tense kidnapping drama.
The series is adapted by Megan Gallagher from Andrea Mara’s 2021 novel. Snook, serving as executive producer, uses this leading role to fully showcase her emotional range, portraying Marissa’s panic and desperation as the search for Milo unfolds.
“All Her Fault allows Snook to emote with all her might, sobbing with panic and gasping in horror as Marissa’s quest to find Milo takes its inevitable twists and turns.”
The show joins the ranks of rich mom mysteries but is seen as a middling entry, lacking some originality. It should not be confused with All’s Fair, another female-centered drama debuting the same week with a similar title.
Sarah Snook delivers a powerful yet uneven performance in a kidnapping thriller that taps into parental fears but offers only a moderate addition to the wealthy-mom mystery genre.
