Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
TransLink will honour veterans and active military personnel by providing free transit on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11. This gesture recognizes their dedication and sacrifice.
Eligibility for Free Transit
The following groups qualify for free transit on November 11:
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Eligible individuals can use a badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear their uniform to access free transit.
Fare Procedures
- Veterans and other eligible riders do not need to tap their Compass Card on buses and HandyDART trips.
- An accessible fare gate at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m. for free entry.
- Holiday fares will apply to other customers on November 11.
National Indigenous Veterans Day
TransLink also recognizes National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans' sacrifices and their role in global peace and security.
Royal Canadian Legion and Poppy Distribution
The Royal Canadian Legion will distribute poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver. Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies across the region.
