Bandits launched a violent raid on Doguwar Dorawa, a small farming village near Guga in Bakori local government area of Katsina State. During the attack, two respected elders were killed and several residents were abducted.
A source told DAILY POST that the assault lasted over an hour, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the peace agreement between the state government and some armed groups active in the region.
The bandits reportedly arrived around 10 p.m. on motorcycles, which they parked in nearby bushes before entering the village on foot to avoid detection. They moved freely for more than an hour, killing, looting, and abducting inhabitants without facing any resistance.
"The attackers are loyalists of Idi Abasu Aiki and Kwashen Garwa, two notorious bandit leaders operating in Bakori and nearby communities," a source said.
The two elders killed were Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, both considered key figures of leadership and moral guidance within the community.
While Doguwar Dorawa was mourning, another community, Layin ‘Yannehu, was simultaneously attacked. The bandits also rustled a large number of animals from there.
The coordinated attacks in Katsina highlight ongoing security challenges and cast doubt on recent peace accords aimed at curbing bandit violence in the area.
